The Cotswolds are a place like no other. Famed for its quaint villages, meandering rivers and rolling hills, the area is the ultimate encapsulation of old English charm. With the use of a top of the range E-bike, the aforementioned hills will be no barrier to you exploring the most impressive sites and some hidden gems, as you can glide up them with the assistance on tap. After being helped around the rides by your E-bike, pamper yourself some more in our selection of luxurious spa hotels, whether it may be with a relaxing treatment or simply some excellent food and drink. Comfort is all but guaranteed.
Riverside cycling paths, hopping from one quaint English village to the next. Finishing a day in the saddle with a relaxing spa treatment at your boutique accommodation.
Day 1 | Arrive at Southrop
Check in to your room. Explore the grounds of your stunning hotel, perhaps indulging in a spa treatment or a cooking class before dinner in one of the three on-site dining options.
Day 2 | Optional Round Trip: Bourton-on-the-Water and Lower Slaughter - Distance: 38mi/62km
Our destination mangers will call by after breakfast to handover our excellent E-bikes and talk you through the details of your cycling tour. After this it is time to get in the saddle and set off to explore the glorious countryside and impossibly quaint villages that this part of England is famed for. Our first recommended ride takes you to some of the region's most famous villages. Start the ride by heading north to Burford, on the banks of the River Windrush. You will follow the river to begin with, hopping from village to village, before approaching Bourton-on-the-Water and then Lower Slaughter. These two villages are arguably the two finest examples of what makes the Cotswolds just so special and we highly recommend locking up your bikes for a while to explore and enjoy them. When it’s time to head back, you’ll follow a route through yet more scenic villages and countryside all the way to the welcoming gates of Thyme.
Day 3 | Cycle Southrop to Tetbury - Distance: 23mi/37km
It is time to move to a new area of the Cotswolds today and we have a great route for you to follow. It starts with a peaceful ride on small country lanes, through a range of cute hamlets of typical sandstone houses, before taking you into the town of Cirencester, known as the gateway to the Cotswolds. Here you will find a town that basks in the glory of its Roman history, with the Corinium museum a particular highlight. After exploring the town hop back aboard your E-bikes and take a spin through the tranquil countryside all the way to your next luxurious spa hotel. Check in, unwind and indulge.
Day 4 | Optional Round Trip: Tetbury and the National Arboretum | Distance 22mi/35km
Some people may prefer to take it easy today and relax in the beautiful grounds of your chosen hotel, perhaps spending some time making the most of the excellent spa facilities on offer. But for those who are keen to squeeze another bike ride into their holiday, we have a great round trip route to offer. It starts by taking you to the pretty town of Tetbury, where you’ll find some nice cafes if you need a bit of extra caffeine or cake to fuel your ride. From here you turn south and head towards the National Arboretum, which is worth a short diversion from our route for a visit, before following the beautifully peaceful lanes towards Wotton-Under-Edge, where you’ll find a pretty high street with plenty of places to refuel and relax for a while. Yet more quiet lanes take you back to the hotel in time for a final night of ultimate relaxation.
Day 5 | We say goodbye

A village within a village, a quintessential country destination and the perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds in comfort. The collection of tastefully restored historic buildings that form the destination are host to not only a fantastic hotel, but a number of dining options, a cookery school and an excellent spa too. A strong drive to operate sustainably underpins everything at Thyme, perhaps nowhere more so than in the kitchen garden and farm, where food miles in the restaurant, bar and pub are kept to the absolute minimum.
A gorgeous hotel built around an excellent spa, that would be well worth a visit in its own right. The fact that it has been coupled with a range of beautifully presented rooms and a choice of fine dining and gastro pub restaurants turns this into one of the most desirable accommodations in the Cotswolds. We just know that you will leave this place feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after your stay.
