Puglia lies in southern Italy, in what’s often referred to as the heel of Italy’s boot. One of Italy’s best-kept secrets, this striking coastal region is well worth a visit to learn more about its rich history. Cycling in Puglia, you'll explore vineyards, coves and stunning coastline along the way.
Puglia has previously been governed by the Greeks, Romans and Spaniards over the centuries, each leaving their distinctive mark. Look out for their influence in the flavoursome cuisine and unique architecture as you explore the area.
Starting in the port city of Bari, the region’s capital, our Puglia cycling tours take you south through lush olive groves and vineyards via Lecce – the ‘Florence of the South’ - and on to Santa Maria di Leuca on the southern tip of Italy.

I am delighted to bring you two fantastic cycling tours in Puglia. These eclectic tours will give you a real feel for the region, as you make your down to the southern tip of Italy.
The sunny climate in Puglia, paired with the influence of the hills and coast, makes this a fantastically successful wine producing region. Puglia is best known for its full-bodied reds, produced from local grapes such as Primitivo and Negroamaro, which in Italian means ‘black bitter’. The region also produces some of Italy’s best Extra Virgin olive oil and tastings are available at many of the producers olive oil estates, where you can buy a bottle to take home right from the source.
Our Puglia cycling tour will give you a flavour of the region’s rich history, taking in UNESCO sites such as the Sassi caves in Matera - the European Capital of Culture in 2019 - and the unique Trulli houses in Alberobello. Trulli houses are specific to Puglia; they are traditional, white-painted homes with conical roofs. The small town of Alberobello has been made a UNESCO site for its unusual Trulli neighbourhoods, and as you wander amongst these beautiful homes, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to another world.
