Luxury cycling holidays for Gourmet travellers

Posted 08 Nov 2016

Do you think a cycling holiday is all about slogging up hills and working up a sweat? Think again. Our luxury cycling holidays combine a passion for cycling and the outdoors with some of the finest food in France. On your French cycling sojourn, we'll take you to Michelin-starred restaurants as well as some of the most charming boutique hotels in the country. The best part? You'll burn off all that indulgence when you hop on the bike. To whet your appetite, here's our pick of luxury holidays for gourmet travellers for you to drool over.

Five nights in Provence

If you're ready to treat yourself, this leisurely sojourn through the idyllic countryside of Provence – and mouth-watering introduction to the region's rich culinary culture – is the holiday for you. The trip is self-led to give you the freedom and relaxation to travel at your own pace, but don't worry – we've provided a full itinerary to keep you entertained.

Starting your journey in the dreamy St Rémy de Provence, you can take in the delightful medieval town, the thriving café scene and the awe-inspiring ruins. After enjoying a world-class meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant, you'll move on to Collias, where you'll stay in one of our favourite French boutique hotels. You'll have plenty of time to explore – don't miss paddling down the river Gardon – before returning to St Rémy de Provence.

Seven nights in Alsace

If you're a serious foodie, only a full week on a gastronomic journey around the Alsace region of France will do. Boasting the most Michelin-starred restaurants outside of Paris, this area is the place to experience fine dining at its best, coupled with some stunning scenery.

You'll enjoy seven sumptuous suppers during your cycling getaway, while staying in picturesque, four-star châteaux hotels. In between long, lazy days of cycling, you'll also have the opportunity to go to a number of wine-tastings from renowned local producers.

Seven nights in Burgundy

Ah, Burgundy. Home to sprawling vineyards, spectacular ancient castles and, of course, some of the most delectable cuisine France has to offer. We pull out all the stops with this week-long luxury cycling holiday, so you'll seriously up your foodie credentials.

You'll begin your gastronomic adventure in pretty Fleurville, where you'll stay in a luxurious château hotel with its own pool and Michelin-star chef. You'll be served indulgent dinners out on the terrace – complete with wine, of course – late into the evening.

Your next two nights will be spent in Tournus, a 16km cycle-ride away. The journey, which takes in a quaint market and 12th-century church, is remarkable in itself even without the bonus of a gourmet meal to look forward to at the end of it.

You'll then spend a couple of nights in Brancion, a lovingly restored hilltop village, before returning to Fleurville.
