Introducing our new Italian Softies tour

Posted 11 Nov 2016

There's just something about Italy, don't you think? Imagine indulging in some authentic, rustic Italian dining before tasting some award-winning wine in a classic vineyard. Or perhaps you'd prefer to cruise along the picturesque banks of the Tiber River, followed by an afternoon of sightseeing among some of the oldest and most beautiful architecture in the world?

While we pride ourselves on being Francophiles, you can't blame us for loving Italy and wanting to share its many pleasures with you on our brand new Italian tour.

Our new Italian Softies Tour

A 7-night electric bike safari takes in the incredible rural landscapes of Tuscany and Umbria. Much in the same way as our French cycling tours, you'll get to follow an expertly curated itinerary, stay in some of the best boutique hotels, and experience the rich culinary delights of the region along the way.

During the day, you'll explore using your own personally fitted eBike. With the help of an assisted engine, the bike will get you up and down those rolling hills with ease. You'll enjoy all of the scenic advantages of cycling with none of the thigh burn.

There's so much to see and do during the journey. Opt to stop off at one of the many charming Italian eateries for the best slice of pizza for miles. Or perhaps choose to wander around the ancient Roman castles and ruins instead, imagining history unrolling before you.

In the evenings, you'll experience fine dining and local wines as well as 3 and 4-star accommodations.

Italian Softies Tour highlights

Castles to inspire the imagination – On the second day of your Italian cycling tour, you'll visit the scenic border between Tuscany and Umbria. Here you'll have the chance to wander the atmospheric halls of four ancient castles in the Niccone Valley.

Dinner cooked by a celebrity – Day three will take you to the quaint, medieval town of Montone. As you sit back and relax with a glass of wine, a traditional meal will exclusively be prepared for you by a celebrity chef. You don't get much more luxurious than that.

Rich history – We like to make the itineraries for our cycling tours as varied as possible to ensure you get the most out of your holiday. As well as gastronomic delights and spectacular sights, you can absorb some fascinating history, too. On your fourth day, you'll have the opportunity to pay homage to Italy's WWII resistance (partigiani) in Pietralunga, before enjoying a workers-style lunch at the trattoria.

The highway to the north – On day five, you'll travel up “Italy's Backbone” through the beautiful foothills of the Appenine and the Via Flaminia, which make up Rome's ancient highway to the north. You'll indulge in a lunch of typical Umbrian dishes before arriving in the hometown of St. Francis, Assisi.
