Your Cycling Holiday in Sardinia

E-Bike | Sardinia's Northern Secrets | Self Guided

On this self-guided e-bike tour, you'll ride through a classy corner of Sardinia that is frequently visited by royalty and a-listers.

Once a secret haven of the rich and famous, the Costa Smeralda is developing into one of Europe's premier destinations, with a fantastic array of hotels and restaurants nestled in its coastal towns and tranquil villages. The main attraction of the area has always been its picture-perfect beaches of soft, white sand and azure blue waters and this remains the case. But don't think for a second that this is all that is on offer here. The food, the wine, the history and the landscape itself are all fantastic propositions in their own rights.

We love

Riding amidst spectacular coastal views and between secluded beaches before a crisp glass of Vermentino post-cycle.

Day 1 | Arrive in Olbia

Touch down in Sardinia and transfer to your first hotel in the village of Cannigione with time to explore before a delicious evening meal.

Meals included: Dinner

Day 2 | Optional Round Trip: San Pantaleo and Porto Cervo | Distance: 31 miles (50km)

After meeting our representatives and receiving your bikes, a loop ride is on the cards to get the wheels in motion. Leaving Cannigione you begin by heading into the granite hills of San Pantaleo, a charming little village. The hills are a mere bump in the road aboard your e-bike, and help you gain some altitude to set you up for a fantastic freewheel back down to the coast. Here you discover the glamorous town of Porto Cervo, playground of the rich and famous, before tracking the blue waters back to Cannigione.

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 3 | Cycle Cannigione to Aggius/Tempio Pausania | Distance: 35 miles (56km)

Today you leave the coast behind and head inland, through forests of cork oak and into an area of Sardinia rich in history. Along the route are several archaeological sites of the Nuragic people who inhabited the island some 4 thousand years ago. The landscape here is rugged and perfect for exploring by e-bike. Your last calling point is Tempio Pausania, a bustling town famous for its carnival, cork and moscato.

Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 4 | Optional Round Trip: Valle della Luna | Distance: 25 miles (40km)

There's nothing to stop you taking a day off today to relax and rest, but you would miss a beautiful bike ride if you do! The Valle della Luna is a valley carved out of the granite rocks over thousands of years and leads to some of the areas finest beaches. The route today is a little shorter, so can be completed in a morning, leaving you with an afternoon at your leisure.

Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 5 | Cycle Aggius to Santa Teresa di Gallura | Distance: 38 miles (61km)

A return to the coast is on the cards on day 5, with spectacular cycling along the islands northernmost shores. The highlight of the day is riding around the Capo Testa with views across the bright blue waters to the southern coast of Corsica. Santa Teresa di Gallura, a small coastal village, is your finish line for the day where a warm welcome and beautiful beach awaits.

Meal included: Breakfast

Day 6 | Cycle Santa Teresa di Gallura to Palau | Distance: 18 miles (30km)

Today's route is an easy one and offers the perfect opportunity to pack your beach gear and make the most of the beaches en route. You'll be dipping in and out of picturesque bays all day before reaching the small port village of Palau, your penultimate stop.

Meals included: Breakfast & Dinner

Day 7 | Cycle Palau to Cannigione via La Maddalena Islands | Distance: 37 miles (60km)

A short ferry ride across the channel to La Maddalena is the first port of call today, before taking a lap of the island aboard your e-bikes. Here you'll find secluded lagoons, untouched beaches and yet more stunning coastal views. Returning to the mainland in the afternoon you'll ride one last stretch of coastline before returning to where it all began, Cannigione for one more night.

Meals included: Breakfast

Day 8 | Departure

We say 'ciao' after a final breakfast. Thanks for joining us and 'buon viaggio'.

  • La Vignaredda, Aggius

    Charming Guesthouse

La Vignaredda is a rural retreat, with spectacular views over the rolling scenery of Northern Sardinia. Being inland and a little off the beaten tourist trail, the look and feel of the property is a little more rustic than others on this tour, but the standard of hospitality on offer more than makes up for it.

  • Suite Charme, St Teresa di Gallura

A newly built hotel right in the heart of the marina, the suites are furnished in modern style. The property has a lovely swimming pool and spa and is perfectly located for exploring this stunning coastal town.

  • La Vecchia Fonte, Palau

    4 star

A great little hotel in the heart of Palau, not far from the waterfront and marina. The rooms here are spacious and traditionally decorated and the bar area, complete with grand piano, is a lovely place to enjoy some local wines whilst enjoying some live music.
