Posted 25 Oct 2023Cycling for Softies has been organising cycling holidays for over 30 years. We recognise the importance of responsible travel and our obligation to the places and people we visit. We hope to make travel sustainable in the long-term by encouraging our staff and clients to support the environment as well as local economies.
For this reason, we have partnered with the charity World Bicycle Relief to help provide bikes to farmers, entrepreneurs, healthcare workers and children in developing countries. So far, more than 750,000 specially designed and durable Buffalo bicycles have already been delivered, which creates an efficient mode of transport in rural areas.
World Bicycle Relief’s mission is to mobilise people that live rurally with bicycles. They hope with their donations that distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare and economic opportunity.
MEET ETHEL
Ethel is a 15-year-old student and dreams of becoming a nurse. It used to take Ethel over two hours to get to school each day, now with her Buffalo bike it only takes 45 minutes. Ethel now arrives at school with plenty of time, allowing her more time to study. Setting a great example as a successful student, she also helps to transport classmates to school.
