Cycling Holidays in Gascony

• Only 5 days of rain from May to September, which means it can be pretty hot especially cycling in the rolling countryside around Condom
• Floc de Gascogne is the local aperitif, and is an excellent starter when served with melon
• The vineyards produce the most delicious Armagnac, a tasting of vintage Armagnac at 10am, generally means walking up the hills for the rest of the day
• Woad for the colour blue, one of the few remaining areas where pastel is grown

Our holidays start and finish at Hotel Trois Lys in Condom. Our regional hotels are*** and chateaux, an occasional ** and a **** chambre d’hote. This is another good region for hotel pools.

The cycling is perfect for discovering a pace slow enough to smell the flowers, yet fast enough to build up an appetite.

Places to visit:

Larressingle, France’s cutest medieval village. La Romieu, saved by 22 cats and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Saviac, intact Gallo-Roman mosaic floors 13th century chateaux to stay in and to visit. Market days are sumptuous affairs. Fources, flowered, fortified and in the round, a medieval village well worth seeing.
