Luxury Cycling Holidays in France

Cycling for Softies - What our holidaymakers say about us in Gascony

“Excellent food, superb scenery, ornithologist's paradise! ”
- MR & MRS GOULD 1ST HOLIDAY

“Interesting but uncrowded region, pleasant hotels, perfect weather. ”
- MR & MRS GREEN 2ND HOLIDAY

“As it was our first time, we did not know what to expect. We were very pleased with the attitude of the people towards us cyclists and we both thoroughly enjoyed our holiday - thank you. ”
- MRS BARTLETT 1ST HOLIDAY

“We had a sense of achievement as a result of doing a Point to Point and proved to ourselves that we can still tackle Grade 3. We timed it well for the weather and the wonderful fruit, lavender and sunflowers. The food was of a consistently high standard and the wine flowed. . . .enormous pleasure to be derived from cycling in rural France. Traffic is sparse outside towns and French motorists are so considerate to cyclists! The countryside is glorious and full of wildlife and flowers. You will see the common thread is the wonderful food throughout, whether large menu or set table d'hote. This is key and after 22 years Susi knows it. Other minor irritations are forgotten in the enjoyment of a lovely relaxing dinner. ”
- MR & MRS PARSONS 5TH HOLIDAY

“We really timed it well this year (June) with all the lovely fruit, the wonderful lavender particularly south of Dieulefit where we could smell it for miles as we rode, and then in Provence the sunflowers and olive groves ”
- David & Felicity Parsons, Rhone to Provence

“Pavillon de l'Ermitage, despite the emphasis on business customers is extremely comfortable with friendly sercice and is in splendid position for a base from which to explore the area. ”
- B TROUGHT & P BURGON 16TH HOLIDAY

“At Peyrus, as we sat down for dinner on the first night amongst a dining room of other families; foreign speaking and French, the hostess came up to our table and in French rattled off at great length. I thought that I heard the word 'compotte' and I interpreted for the family 'Do you want soup?' The refrain from all of the children in unison was 'oui!' In fact, she was introducing us to the rest of the diners as the family who had cycled up to the village. Needless to say, there was a hearty mirth and we ended up having a wonderfu evening trying our best to make ourselves understood amongst the rest of the guests who in turn practiced their pidgeon English on us. ”
- MR LEVITT 1ST HOLIDAY

“Combines an active holiday in interesting areas with excellent accommodation with all the arrangements taken care of and helpful and knowledgeable staff to provide information and support throughout. The holiday can be tailormade and as strenuous or as restful as required. We appreciated the personal service which accommodated our travel arrangements and commitments within your travel arrangements. The French are very enthusiastic cyclists and whenever a pack came racing up behind us as we huffed and puffed our way up hills, they were always most courteous and pleasant, calling 'Bonjour' or 'Bonjournee' as they sped past. They always seemed delighted that others, however inept, enjoyed their enthusiasm. ”
- MR & MRS RAYFIELD 2ND HOLIDAY

“The Rhone experience is so very different to Provence. We enjoyed seeing the French in non-tourist mode and shared their commiserations when they lost Senegal in the World Cup. Thank you so much for a wonderful, relaxing and impeccably organised holiday. The French lifestyle gives us so much inspiration - long elegantly served, deliciously tasting meals; great wine. We loved the cycling and found gliding along (or puffing up those hills!) amidst exquisite wildflowers - was a real tonic! ”
- MR & MRS CARTWRIGHT 2ND HOLIDAY

“Accidently gatecrashed carriage on steam train reserved by group of French. Far from being upset at our English presence, the were very friendly - suggesting which side to stand and look out from, warning us of the soot fall out and in fact took some photos of us. Had we not been in danger of missing the train, we would have seen the 'reserv{' sign and not had such a truly entertaining ride! ”
- MS J FRANKLIN 5TH HOLIDAY

“We love the freedom of travelling with so little and seeing so much and stopping wherever we choose on such good problem-free bikes. ”
- MRS STEVENSON 2ND HOLIDAY

“Because we select the 'Adventurer', it gives us all the freedom we like but the back-up is still there. ”
- MR STEVENSON 2ND HOLIDAY

“- I was impressed with the brochure, but did wonder how much of it was 'gloss'. On completion of the holiday, it is 100% spot on! - The 'Susi' books were superb pre-holiday reading. Also, to receive the maps early, enabled us to plan our route and 'free' ”
- MR & MRS BACON 1ST HOLIDAY

“It was an excellent holiday which we all greatly enjoyed. Both accommodation and food were better than previously and the countryside is a joy for elderly cyclists – hills graded and reasonable.”
- MR & MRS PARSLOE

“Wonderful France – the countryside, the people, the cuisine, the excellent hotels.”
- MR & MRS KIFF
