Enjoy the best of Sussex and Sussex wine with this carefully created tour: five nights and two vineyards with plenty of time in between to relax in our hand-picked, luxury spa hotels and explore the county aboard a top of the range E-bike. Expect peaceful lanes through charming countryside, easy riding along riverside and coastal paths and some spectacular scenery around the South Downs National Park.

Day 1 | Arrive at Ockenden Manor
Settle in at Ockenden Manor, before indulging in a delicious supper at the hotel's award-winning restaurant, followed by an overnight stay.
Day 2 | Cycle Ockenden Manor to Bailiffscourt – Distance: 40mi/64km
Enjoy breakfast at leisure at Ockenden Manor before checking out. Set off aboard your e-bike for a ride to the coast and your next hotel, Bailiffscourt for dinner and another fine night's sleep. The route takes you through typical Sussex countryside and uses a long stretch of the Downs Link cycle route along the banks of the river Adur, perfect for an easy ride. On the way to the coast you will pass Bramber Castle and the South Downs before hugging the coastline for the remainder of the ride. Stopping for an ice cream is optional but recommended!
Approx. riding time: 3.5 hours
Day 3 | Cycle Bailiffscourt to Midhurst – Distance: 25mi/40km
After checkout, it is time to leave the coast and make your way to Midhurst. Our route takes you to the impossibly picturesque Arundel Castle, before crossing the South Downs with the help of your e-bikes. On the other side of these marvellous hills the ride passes through gorgeous countryside and quaint hamlets. Arrive in Midhurst with time to look around and settle in for full afternoon tea and a night in a four-poster bed at The Spread Eagle, one of the oldest coaching inns in the UK.

Day 1 | Arrive at Ockenden Manor
Settle in at Ockenden Manor, before indulging in a delicious supper at the hotel's award-winning restaurant, followed by an overnight stay.
Day 2 | Optional Round Trip: Ridgeview Wine Estate – Distance: 22mi/36km
After a delicious English breakfast, we will call by to deliver your bikes and get you set up at our welcome meeting. You are then free to set off on your bikes for your first ride, taking in the sights and sounds of the Sussex countryside. Arrive amidst the vines of Ridgeview Wine Estate on route for a tour and tasting. Return to Ockenden Manor for a relaxing Isopod treatment before dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 | Cycle Ockenden Manor to Bailiffscourt – Distance: 40mi/64km

Wake to hear the waves and smell the sea air. After breakfast take a ride to the nearby Tinwood Estate for a tour and tasting, passing through historic Chichester on the way. Take the afternoon to relax and explore Bailiffscourt, wander the grounds, stroll along Climping Beach or disappear into the award-winning spa to enjoy a wonderfully indulgent spa treatment - ending the day with a delicious three course supper in the beautiful candlelit Tapestry Restaurant.

Day 5 | Cycle Bailiffscourt to Midhurst – Distance: 25mi/40km

A hotel of two halves. One is a classical English country house, with Elizabethan oak panelled rooms, gorgeous stained-glass windows and a beautiful 19th century walled garden. The other is a stunning piece of contemporary architecture that hosts the excellent spa, fed by a natural spring. An award-winning restaurant tops it all off, making this a very hard hotel to leave at the end of a stay.

I loved the holiday from beginning to end and was thrilled with the hotels.
The ride from Baliffscourt on our last day was definitely the highlight. The roads were largely car free and the views were gorgeous. We also enjoyed our stops at Tinwood and Bolney vineyards and wished we had more time for Bolney.
