Fairy tale, historic and charming..
Perfect for...wine tasting, beautiful Gardens and river routes.
A magical region famous for its marvellous chateaux and delicious wines. Chinon, a medieval market town, was once the centre of the Plantagenet kingdom and you can still visit Henry 11’s impressive 12th century castle. On Bastille Day, the whole town watches the evening firework display, followed by a storming of the castle, and its ‘burning to the ground’. In August, the Rabelais Festival and the traditional Market day bring out the costumes and customs of the past. From each busy little town you escape into the quiet of the countryside with verges filled with wild flowers and gardens bursting with colour.
Our holidays start at ** Hotel Diderot with its breakfast jams and flowered garden in the centre of medieval Chinon.
All cycling routes are grade 1, an easy cycling region, flat to gently rolling with very few hills, a plethora of chateaux, often with stunning gardens – many which you can visit
