Burgundy & Beaujolais
Cycling Holidays

The gastronomic centre of France where not only the wines are appellation controlee, but also the corn fed, free range chickens

Unique Sarassin chimneys on every farmhouse across the Plaine of Bresse, no two the same, and nobody knows why

Cascading geraniums decorate the houses, often with wooden balconies

Perfect for cycling whilst conquering the marvellous cuisine.

Our holidays start and finish at the Château des Pommiers in Igé. An elegant château hotel in a tiny Burgundy village surrounded by vineyards and a glorious garden. The regional hotels are *** and ****, châteaux and one **** chambre d’hôte. Many hotels have pools, all do wonderful food.

Burgundy & Beaujolais offers easy cycling through fabulous scenery. You'll pedal along Voie Verte, the cycle path from Macon to Nuits St. Georges, a converted rail track which cuts through the hills.

Places to Visit

Some places to visit on your cycling holiday in Burgundy & Beaujolais...
A surfeit of famous Burgundy wines and Beaujolais Grand Crus, it is worth a visit to Georges Duboeuf’s wine museum at Thorigne Romaneche to taste them all. The prehistoric Roc de Solutre formed by a glacier in the Ice Age. La Dombes with its shimmering lakes is a water wonderland for wildfowl and dragonflies. The medieval town of Perouges much favoured as the back drop of swashbuckling films and galettes, some delicious biscuits Cluny, for magnificent architecture and a monastery once visited by the Pope.
